My youngest son was a very happy baby. I used to know he was awake, because I would hear him laughing and playing in his crib. As I entered his nursery, he would look up and say in delight and surprise “I woke up,” and my response was always, “yes my darling and I am so glad you did”.
For me, it was a wonderful reminder each morning that waking up is not a given and that each morning we have a choice, we can declare: “Good God…..Morning” or “Good Morning God.”
When we consciously decide to wake up excited about each day, our expectation becomes positive. We look forward to all the day has to offer, and look for and find opportunities for joy, enthusiasm, inspiration, and fun.
We are all aware that from the moment we are born, we begin dying; and this gives us two choices. We can live in constant fear of this beautiful life we have, ending; or we can use this awareness as an opportunity to make the most of the time we have. To live larger than life, using and creating opportunities to live life to the full.
Believing and living by the saying “live every day as if it is your last, for one day it will be,” ensures that we see each day as a gift. This will ensure that we have no regrets, and that at our memorial we are remembered as someone who not only made the most of life, but was a blessing and an inspiration to those they loved.
